Fonts

Title
The masthead is a very important aspect of a successful selling magazine, it has to be eye-catching and appealing to the public eye. From the results I gathered from my questionnaire the chosen logo name for my magazine will be titled “Rhythm” I felt that this was an suitable name that associated and linked to my main genre and theme of ‘Pop’. The heading “Rhythm” portrays and symbolises the bright, exotic atmosphere of the music Pop therefore when designing the masthead I would like to incorporate and portray this within my logo name .

I have to take into consideration that typography is a vital part within the layout of a magazine as it can effect how the audience views the magazine as a whole. To ensure that I produce the most effect masthead possible, I will choose a variety of different styles of fonts in order to make my final decision of what particular font works best in creating the ultimate outlook of the magazine.

Theses are some of fonts that could be the possible outcome of the Masthead:

I like this as it presents a slight blur and shadow between the dominant harsh red and dark black. The typesetting is rare however I don’t believe it suits the genre of the magazine as the gradient within the text is too harsh and striking for a Pop magazine I would usually associate this with a girl metal music magazine. However the Font is eye-catching and appealing with the slight glow around the lettering.

This is bright and a creative style to the word “Rhythm, the font is printed large and bold however containing a sense of glow and edgy to the text, giving the impression that the title has been hand written with an italic pen . However I don't feel this in keeps with my chosen genre Pop.

This Particular font is quiet dramatically different from the other fonts looked at above. It is not a bold and dominant in contrast to the other fonts. This font is simple however effective each letter the shade become dimmer and lighting, building up a light shadow of white although it isn't too simplistic to gradual use of white complements the exotic use of red. The gradual swirl of the lettering in the font gives a sense of an enjoyment, energetic atmosphere. I feel this particular font has a sense of formal and professional structure , which will engage and appeal my target audiences attention more than the fonts above.
