Questionnaire results

Questionnaire Results
I created my own personal questionnaire that in counted questions regarding to my music magazine in order to gain an audience’s perspective on what factors they feel create a professional outlook of a Pop magazine. I distributed my questionnaire to a sample range of 30 people in the age group between 13-24 (My target audience) I did this to get the most valid and reliable results as possible.

Analyse of my Questionnaire results.

Question 5

What do you feel is a must have feature in a Pop music magazine?

I approached my final question as an open un-structured question this allowed the audience the freedom to give their personal creative opinion and express their suggestion in what would make a successful music magazine. I got a variety of answer, however the most common requests to what articles should be published in the magazine was the following:

Ø  Gig and tour dates

Ø  Exclusive interviews with legendary artist

Ø  Fashion

Ø  Behind the scene on tour road trips

Ø  Chart list

I felt the answers I received was really reassuring as it gave me an insight of what my target audience will be expected to see as my final product of my magazine. I feel it is essential to incorporate as much as the information as possible in the hope it will engage and appeal to the public. These ideas of articles gives me a choice of suggestions of what to include within my double page spread and I feel I could be very creative in the sense of photography and layout of the magazine.

Question 4

If you was to receive a complimentary (Free) gift attached inside the magazine what would you prefer?

I gave them a multipliable choice question which included a range of four possible answers

·         CD

·         Poster

·         Free gig tickets

·         Calendar

This gave me many ideas of how to entice my selected target audience into purchasing my magazine. Considering that the majority of my audience preferred a monthly release of the magazine. I would be willing to change the prizes given in each monthly issue and these top even responses is a prefect way for me to consider which free gift to include with the magazine on its first day of realise. After summing up the percentage of answer, I have concluded the complimentary gift will conceal of a free gig ticket.

 Question 3

From your personal opinion, what do you feel is a suitable name for a Pop magazine?

I approached this question similar to question 5 using the structure of an open ended question. Using this particular layout of a question allows the audience more free will to state their individual preference on the magazines logo. However I did understand that I would get range of answers therefore making it harder to percentage up the calculations, but after considering all the answers put forward by the audience I will then choose from my own personal opinion, as I have to counteract the colour schemes and layout of the magazine to whether it will fit in with the style I am going to portray in my magazine.

The top answers I received were as following:

·         Rhythm

·         Up-Beat

·         Symphony

·         Pop

I personal feel that rhythm would be the best choice and link to a pop magazine I feel like the word “Rhythm” is associated with the genre of Pop considering its up-beat and brings a lively atmosphere, whereas I felt “Pop” was to simple and plain and “symphony” I felt would work better as the title or an opera magazine rather than a Pop magazine.

Question 2

If you was to purchase this particular Magazine, how much would you be willing to pay for the magazine?

This certain question I found much difficult to give the audience four reasonable pricing ranges of my magazine. As a publisher there are many risks to in counter with the cost of the magazine. If my magazine was going to be published by a real publishing house, I would not want to under-price the cost of the magazine, this is because prices are extreme for designing and printing the magazine and I would still need to make a larger profit than I started with to keep the magazine being published monthly. Although on the other hand, while keeping in mind you need to make a profit you will have to consider that the magazine would not be overpriced, as the members of you audience would not bother in even considering buying the magazine as the price is too extreme of what it is really worth, causing the business to close down and your company falling bankrupt.

This was the four ranges of prices I allowed my audience to pick from:

·         £1.75

·         £2.00

·         £2.50

·         £3.00

As you can see I kept my price gap small as well as keeping it reasonable prices, I had to consider that I am giving my audience a complimentary gift included with the magazine therefore it couldn’t be too cheap as the audience are effectively paying half of the price for the free gift. The majority of my audience answer “£2.50” as the accepted payment for the magazine, I felt this was very appropriate amount as the magazine I am producing is professional with a sense of informal aspects without it appealing to my audience as tacky. This will be reflected in the price of my magazine.
